M.A. Education or Master of Arts in Education is a postgraduate course whose duration is 2 Years with 4 Semesters. The course is completed by a candidate in 2 year time. M.A. Education is basically a theoretical course which focuses on the basic knowledge of theory and practice of educational thought and processes accumulated around the discipline of education. It encompasses a series of BASIC subjects which are designed in a way to cover basics of all the areas of educational concern and many Advanced Courses (Theoretical or Applied) in areas demanding specialization of one or the other kind, followed by Research Dissertation. M.A. (Education) is not the same as M.Ed. though the terminology is alike; both are different and have their own prerequisites; however, the course contents are almost alike.

Aspiring students should have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline (including Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Commerce, Management, etc.) from a recognized university. Percentage Requirements may vary from Institute to Institute.

Some Institutes conduct admissions based on merit. Like, admission int M.A. Education (Distance Mode) of the Sri Venkateswara University is made through 2 Streams viz., (i) Through Entrance Test and (ii) through direct admission for in-service teachers / lecturers
